Cycle
of Seasons
classes take your budding musician to the next level, by helping
to develop an ear for music, while building attention skills
and encouraging self expression.
At
Cycles,
activites centred around
nature and the seasons of the year will include:
singing
vocal
play / exploration
creative
movement
story
telling
active
listening
rhythm
and beat
playing
percussion instruments, like drums, bells, triangles and
tone blocks
At
Jump Start, we embrace the idea that children learn best
through moving, playing and exploring.
**Please
note that children must be at least 3 before starting this
program.
How
do I know if my child is ready to move past Cycle of
Seasons and into the First Notes program?
Your
child is five years old within two weeks of starting
the class.
Your
child is able to sing a whole song
Your
child has begun to match the steady beat in the group
Your
child shares, takes turns and plays co-operatively
most of the time
Your
child is using past and future tense in his vocabulary
Your
child can now sort some things by color, shape and
form
Your
child counts to 20 and recognizes numbers 1-10
Your
child will be able to hop several times in a row,
and is learning to skip
Your
child is now able to control a pencil or marker
Cycle
of Seasons
is a sixteen week 1 hour program, starting in September and
February, with a 6 or 8 week option for summer.
Parents
or caregivers join in for sharing time, during the last 15
minutes of each class.

every child will hit all of these milestones at once. If you are uncertain
whether your child should move from Cycles to First Notes, check with
your teacher. We have four different curricula for this age group,
so your child likely won't be repeating material if they stay an extra
semester in Cycles.
